Maintaining a clean and neat kitchen and preparing a nice meal is not easy, especially if you rarely have time because of work or school. Some kitchen activities like chopping and peeling might be a little time consuming, not to mention cleaning the kitchen. There are a few tricks that can help you save time and money when cooking or cleaning. Check out the kitchen hacks below.

  1. Separate egg yolks and egg whites by using an empty water bottle. Put the tip of the bottle on the yolk and gently squeeze to suck in the entire yolk.
  2. Peeling garlic is not interesting, especially when you have to peel like seven cloves. It is time consuming. There is however an easy way to peel garlic. All you need is to slightly smash the garlic with the palm of your hands, put them in a container then shake them vigorously and then proceed to separate then chop it or mash it.
  3. A waffle iron can also be used to make delicious and well cooked omelette. Just beat your eggs, whisk them and place it on the waffle iron.2fdf7901eb96a0837200a2666a56f621
  4. If you hate the way ice cream freezes and solidifies when put inside a freezer, use a ziploc bag to store it. Put the entire ice cream tub in the ziploc, put it in the freezer and maintain the creamy and softness.
  5. If you want to keep your herbs fresh and still maintain the taste, use an ice cube tray or muffin tin to freeze the freshly chopped herbs in water or olive oil. Use the frozen herb cubes as a seasoning agent in your stews and enjoy the meal.
  6. Store cooking pan/cooking pot lids with a curtain rod. Drill the rod to the wall or stick it inside the cupboard and safely store your lids. You can also use towel bars for this.
  7. Measuring the perfect quantity of salt for any soup/stews is difficult. If you accidentally put too much salt in your soup, peel a whole potato and drop it into the soup while still cooking. The potato will absorb the extra salt. Don’t forget to remove the potato before serving.
  8. Don’t you hate it when cooking and the content of the cooking pan spills over? To keep that from happening, balance a wooden spoon across the pot.
  9. Prevent clogs from your kitchen sink by pouring boiling water down the drain. This ensures oily residue that stick along the walls of the drainage are run down.
  10. There is nothing as difficult as cleaning a blender. There is however a very easy way to achieve this. Just pour warm water and a bit of dish soap in to the jug. Return the lid of the blender and turn it on. Finish by giving it a quick and thorough rinse.
