AFC Leopards on Sunday played out a 1-1 draw with visiting Fosa juniors from Madagascar in their first leg CAF confederation cup preliminary round match at the Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.
This was the first leg for the two teams.
It was the first international test for AFC leopards coach Robert Matano since joining the club and here the Ingwe fans did not disappoint.
Leopards were lucky to open the scores after Prince Arko Papa flicked in a long ball from Yusuf Mainge to put the Robert Matano-led side ahead in the third minute to send Bukhungu into wild celebrations.
However, the celebrations were short lived after Fosa Junior leveled the scores in the 17th minute through Rado Mbolasoa after he capitalized on Leopards’ defensive blunder to stab in passed Gabriel Andika.
The result dimmed AFC Leopards’ prospects of advancing to the first round of the continental competition as they now need to beat the Madagascar outfit away in a fortnight.
AFC Leopard’s arch-rivals Gor Mahia thrashed Leones Vegetarianos of Equatorial Guinea 2-0 in the first leg of Caf Champions League at Machakos Stadium on Saturday.
