The Council of Governors (COG) has signed an MOU with Amref Health Africa to support health care development in the counties. Amref Health Africa has already committed a budget of 3.8 billion shillings to improve health and health care services across all 47 counties in Kenya this year, with a focus on reaching communities and households where the need is greatest, and especially women and children. The MOU establishes a framework of formal cooperation between the Council of Governors and Amref Health Africa in the following areas.
The signing of the MOU was witnessed by Dr. Meshack Ndirangu, the Country Director for Amref Health Africa in Kenya and COG Chair, Peter Munya.

Munya said the county governments, will give Amref Health Africa the organizational support it needs to create strong linkages between the community and the formal health system.
The MOU denotes progress on the part of the county governments, which have been working hard, despite budget constraints, to deliver quality health services in the counties.
