The principal secretary, state department of social protection Susan Mochache has urged parents from the pastoralist communities in Isiolo to embrace and take advantage of various government policies on education in order to boost skilled local human capital.
Speaking during this year’s international day of the African child at the Isiolo stadium ,PS Mochache noted that in the current leadership of president Uhuru Kenyatta on matters pertaining children in Kenya, has been remarkable due to various government policies that have been instilled, most importantly ,the free education.
She stated that the move by the government to offer free primary school education has brought drastic changes in making sure that every child has the right to education. She encouraged Kenyans to embrace the various courses offered in vocational and technical training institutions, adding that job dynamics in the country had changed in favor of skilled labor.
Isiolo County commissioner John Ondego cautioned parents against discrimination of children with disabilities when taking their offspring to school, adding that the government had come up with integrated schools to ensure that no child is left out.
The climax of the International Day of the African child will take place on Saturday, 16th June with all African nations to commemorate the death of 40 Soweto children that lost their lives.
