Jubilee and NASA leadership have stood their ground on not making changes to the disputed lists of members to champion the lawmaker’s welfare in the parliamentary service commission. Jubilee’s eldas MP Adan Keynan, nominated senator Beth Mugo and NASA’s Homabay woman representative Gladys Wanga are the three members whose nomination has been opposed.

MPS accuse the three of failing to fight for their welfare in the 11th parliament when the salaries and remuneration commission slashed their pay and other privileges.

In a rare show of unison Jubilee and NASA leaders are planning to bulldoze their respective members to approve the disputed list of members to champion the lawmaker’s welfare in the Parliamentary Service Commission.

The leaders have said they will not bow to MPs demands to have three nominees to the nine-member commission replaced.

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, Majority Chief Whip Benjamin Washiali, Minority Leader John Mbadi and Minority deputy Chief Whip Chris Wamalwa however insist that none of their nominees will be replaced.

Washiali said names of the Jubilee nominees to the PSC were agreed upon during their parliamentary group meeting at State House last month. The meeting was chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

PSC has successfully challenged the SRC directive that scrapped car grants for the 416 lawmakers in the bicameral Parliament.

Mbadi said the NASA leadership had made its decision and it is upon members to make their determination by either supporting or rejecting the coalition list.

Wanga and Khaniris names were also met with resistance from the Jubilee side as Nandi Senator Cherargei Kiprotich told claimed the two had shown disrespect to the president by insulting him at NASA public rallies.
