The Kenyan chess league kicked off at the Ruaraka sports ground last weekend with sixteen teams taking part. KCB claimed victory over the kings club in a two hour encounter that saw the bankers win 5-0.

The bankers boasted a strong roster lead by Kamau Jackson. His compatriots; Joseph Methu, Ben Nguku, and Gohil did not drop the ball as they thrashed their opponents 5-0.
The 2018 Chess League has attracted a host of competitors this season. As a result, the number of participants was increased to 22 from 20 the previous season. All those clubs will compete for the grand prize of 200,000 shillings.
Equity bank claimed top spot last season by bagging 80 points ahead of KCB that garnered 77.
