The Kenya Human Rights Commission, KHRC has denied allegations leveled against it over failure to pay tax amounting to 100 million Kenya shillings.
The NGO board on Monday deregistered the body for operating illegal bank accounts.
KHRC Director George Kegoro instead accused the NGO board director Fazul Mohamed for over intimidation and harassment also questioning his academic qualification to serve in a public office.
Apart from the tax evasion allegations, KHRC is being accused of hiring expatriates without work permits, having four bank accounts at NIC and Africa commercial bank illegally and not disclosing the salaries of its directors.
Meanwhile the board has written to the director of criminal investigations Ndegwa Muhoro asking him to close down the Africa centre for open governance AFRICOG citing that the organization is not registered under the board.
The board also asked Muhoro to arrest the directors and members of AFRICOG and take them to court.
Last week KHRC gave out a report on the number of Kenyans killed by police officers.
Most notably was the incident that shook many where an eight year old girl was shot dead by the police in Mathare, Nairobi.
Police have been accused of using excess force on Kenyans during protests that erupted in Kibra and Mathare in Nairobi as well as in Kisumu.
