Employment and Labour Relations Court has once again suspended the jail sentence of the doctors’ union officials.For the third time Judge Hellen Wasilwa has put off the sentence for seven days to allow for mediation talks.

This is after Central Organization and Trade Union Secretary General Francis Atwoli pleaded with the court.

To allow seven more days for negotiations offering to mediate talks with a view of finding a lasting solution.

In her ruling, Justice Wasilwa said the negotiations will involve the Council of Governors, the Attorney-General’s office, Salaries and Remuneration Commission, the Federation of Kenyan Employers, KMPDU officials and the treasury.

The ruling is expected to be delivered on the 13th of February.

The medics are seeking for full implementation of the 2013 – 2017 collective bargaining agreement.
