It’s now a big relief to residents of Lamu County after the county health department received two boat ambulances from USA based Alkhair Foundation.
The boats will help in dealing with the urgent medical referrals particularly maternal health cases in the area.
Speaking during the official handing over of the ambulances at the King Fahad Lamu County hospital, Governor Issa Timammy expressed his gratitude to the organization and promised to work hand in hand with Alkhair foundation.
He confirms major renovations are taking place at the King Fahad Lamu county hospital that will alleviate the status of the hospital.
The regional representative for Alkhair foundation, Mohammed Tarik Harunany says their partnership with the Lamu county government will continue with the aim of uplifting the leaving standards of Lamu people.
The new ambulances come barely a fortnight after Fist lady Margaret Kenyatta launched the beyond zero mobile clinic for Lamu county to help in dealing with the maternal health cases.
