Matatu owners in Mombasa want roads in the coastal town’s central business district expanded to curb congestion.

Matatu Owners Association Coast co-ordinator Salim Mbarak says pavements should be reduced for expansion of the roads.

Posta offices in Ganjoni along Moi Avenue, Makupa and Changamwe roundabout should be re-worked as they are the key areas that cause traffic especially during the rush hours.

A review on the CBD roads will help in enhancing movement to the newly completed roads mainly in Changamwe.

This comes days after the an order was addressed for only two buses to be allowed within the CBD of Nairobi in a bid to ease congestion but has not yet kicked off.
