According to Minority Leader John Mbadi, the NASA leaders want the value added tax (VAT) on petroleum products abolished instead of halved .
Some NASA lawmakers including MPs Babu Owino, Antony Oluoch and Senator Cleophas Malala, among others ,accompanied activist John Wamagata to court where he filed an application seeking to be enjoined in a case filed by Okiya Omtatah challenging the 16% VAT on petroleum products.
The judge agreed that the case is urgent and of great public interest but ought to be heard in presence of all parties.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta proposed that the recently implemented 16percent fuel tax be reduced by half. For the 8percent VAT on fuel to be effected, Parliament will have to endorse it.
