imagine a world where you can eat whatever you heart desires and wouldn’t gain any weight! That could be a possibility thanks to some researchers at Flinders University in Australia aka the REAL MVPs.

According to @Forbes, researchers have found that when a single gene called RCAN1 was removed in their test subject (which so happens to be mice in this case) they were able to eat a high fat diet without gaining any weight.

Professor Damien Keating said this about the discovery: “We looked at a variety of different diets with various timespans from eight weeks up to six months, and in every case,  we saw health improvements in the absence of the RCAN1 gene.”

Researchers hope that this new discovery will help combat the nationwide epidemic of obesity and hopefully become a catalyst to new drug findings that can treat health issues like diabetes. Professor Keating also added: “We know a lot of people struggle to lose weight or even control their weight for a number of different reasons. The findings in this study could mean developing a pill which would target the function of RCAN1 and may result in weight loss.”

Researchers have even started developing the new drug saying: In light of our results, the drugs we are developing to target RCAN1 would burn more calories while people are resting. It means the body would store less fat without the need for a person to reduce food consumption or exercise more.” Whew chile! I don’t know about y’all but this sounds like a blessing to me!
