Telecommunications company Safaricom has connected over 50,000 homes with fiber internet after it commenced the plan last year. According to the safaricom officials, so far the company has laid approximately 4500 kilometres of fiber optic cables to almost 150,000 homes.


Safaricom’s home Internet plan which was launched last year with an aim to deliver home internet to millions of people across the country starting with major towns.


Currently The home Internet programme has reached more than 30 estates within Nairobi including Kilimani,South B, Karen Pangani,Ongata Rongai , Syokimau and parts of Machakos county.


Initiatives by the Telco operator has seen it extend to Mombasa, the Western regions of the country and parts of Thika town.


Safaricom says home internet encourages residents to use more data through streaming in various online TV and online radio channels.
