The route for the safari rally which will be held from march 15-17 has been released. Kenya Motor Sports Federation chairman Phineas Kimathi said the route has been tailored to suit world rally championships specifications as the event seeks to return to the WRC series by 2020.
This year’s safari rally will also double up as the second round of the Africa rally championship, and will mainly be centred in Naivasha over five hundred and eighty one kilometres. The rally will start outside Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi at 11 am on March 15th. Drivers will then head to the rally headquarters in Sopa Lodge, Naivasha, for service.
The total distance covered on day one will be one hundred and fifty six kilometres, including liaison sections. Day two will start at 7am on March 16th. cars will then head to Soysambu ranch for the first stage of the rally.
The final day on March 17th will cover thirty one kilometers along Kedong section followed by Aberdare, before ending at Sopa Lodge by mid-day.
