Wilfred Mutuku Musau has been confirmed the Managing Director of National Bank of Kenya after holding the position in an acting capacity over the last five months. Musau who was previously Head of Retail and Premium Banking division, takes over from Munir Ahmed who was sent on forced leave together with five other top managers early this year then sacked over claims of mismanagement of the lender.

With 18 years’ experience, Musau is expected to help drive focus on customer value propositions, develop effective sales model, expand distribution network prudently, leverage on ICT to drive automation, enhance risk management capabilities and diversify product portfolios.

National Bank of Kenya made it to the headlines when the board of directors sent on forced leave the then Managing Director Amhed Munir and five other top managers in order to allow for internal audit as a result of unsound corporate governance at the lender.
